Drivers in Pawtucket, East Providence, and Cranston can find out more about the 2019 Nissan Maxima updates and upgrades with our in-depth model review.
The base engine for the Maxima is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that provides 300 horsepower and mates to a continuously variable transmission. This is a refined engine that delivers smooth, modulated power without unpleasant noise, as well as simulated gears that give it more of an automatic feel.
Branded as a 4-door sports car, the Maxima has sharp handling and remarkable athleticism, which makes for an exciting ride. The ride is cushioned over rough pavement as well, ensuring that passengers are always comfortable.
The Maxima experienced an upgrade to the interior for the 2019 model year, with many new high-end materials gracing the cabin. Diamond-quilted seats, contrast stitching, 2-toned color palettes, and microsuede, all enhance the luxury, as well as heated and ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel.
The Maxima seats five people in comfortable, supportive seats. The front seats offer plenty of space for both driver and passenger, while the rear seats provide the headroom and legroom to accommodate adult passengers. In the trunk, the Maxima has 14.3 cubic feet of space, complete with a wide opening for easy loading. The cabin has many convenient places to stow personal belongings as well.
The Maxima comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ smartphone integration. This system features excellent graphics and a straightforward layout, as well as a console-mounted control knob for enhanced usability. Navigation, Bluetooth® connectivity, satellite radio, and HD Radio™ are also standard.
The Safety Shield 360 suite of active safety features is new for 2019, which bundles Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Departure Warning, Front and Rear Automated Emergency Braking, and Pedestrian Detection. Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic-Sign Recognition are also optional, but a driver-attention monitoring system is standard across the lineup. This feature uses existing parameters to monitor driver alertness and send warnings if it senses drowsiness or a lack of attentiveness. If you take a lot of road trips or spend time on long, boring highways, this feature is virtually indispensable.
