Because the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island is such a valuable part of the community, we thought we would provide our East Providence, Cranston, and Pawtucket, Rhode Island neighbors with a little insight into what they’re all about. Continue reading to get to know them a little more if you’re not entirely familiar with what they do.
History and Purpose
The Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island was founded in 1983 as a way to provide those with brain injuries as well as their families with the resources, information, and services that they need.
They have been spreading awareness and helping those who have been affected by brain injury ever since.
Membership of this organization includes the following:
- Brain injury survivors
- Families and friends of those afflicted by brain injury
- Healthcare professionals
- Providers of brain injury rehabilitation
Programs and Services
The Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island spreads brain injury awareness and education in the following ways:
- Support groups
- Health fairs and other community programs
- Training for schools on impact testing and sports concussions
- Training for developmental disability group homes, businesses and corporations, substance abuse agencies, nursing homes, mental health agencies, and more
On top of all of this, their resource center offers DVDs and literature containing the latest educational information.
