Just saying the word “summer” immediately brings to mind the old American tradition of barbecues: family, friends, pools, and the smells of grilling hamburgers and our favorite, hot dogs.
Hot dogs have been loved by Americans for so long, they’ve now been designated an entire month. July is National Hot Dog Month, and to help you celebrate the right way, we’ve found our favorite hot dog hot spots in and around Providence.
Baba’s Original New York System
When you’re looking for an American classic, you’ll want to go to a classic American establishment. Look no further than Baba’s Original New York System. Established in 1927, this “hot weiner” joint has had a few years to conjure up the perfect hot dog.
But, that’s not all they’ve perfected. You’ll find great options here, like a variety of burgers (including veggie and turkey), wraps, appetizers, and of course, a ton of weiner specials. You can get the Original New York System Hot Weiner, topped with mustard, meat sauce, chopped onions, celery salt. Make it a 2- or 3-Weiner Special, and it’ll come with French fries and a drink.
Who would’ve thought a hot dog place would last over 100 years? Haven Brothers has been a family-owned and -operated business since 1893, bringing the residents and visitors of Providence delicious food and a cool, laid-back atmosphere.
Haven Brothers has perfected the meaning of “comfort food” with their extensive menu of American classics. Along with their incredible Haven Dog, you can get items like a Texas Toast Grilled Cheese, a Philly Cheesesteak, or a Root Beer float!
